I CARABINIERI CUSTODI DELLA BIODIVERSITÀ ITALIANA
Sarà inaugurata a NEW YORK presso il Palazzo delle Nazioni Unite il prossimo
8 maggio la mostra sulle attività di salvaguardia e tutela del nostro patrimonio
ambientale in occasione della Giornata Mondiale della Biodiversità
Italy, for its particular geographical conformation and its climatic conditions, is the country with
the highest concentration of biodiversity in Europe. A unique natural heritage that houses
particularly diverse and complex ecosystems where a large number of rare and endangered plant
and animal species are sheltered.
L’Italia, per la sua particolare conformazione geografica e le sue condizioni climatiche, è il Paese con
la più alta concentrazione di biodiversità in Europa. Un patrimonio naturale unico che custodisce
ecosistemi particolarmente diversi e complessi dove un gran numero di piante rare e in via di estinzione
e le specie animali sono protette.
On top of that, Italy boasts the highest agro-biodiversity in the world, with hundreds of products
protected by the European quality brand.
This national heritage, precisely because of its extraordinary value, must be the subject of a
particular and renewed protection, also because of the recent and important amendment of
Articles 9 and 41 of our Constitution, which place the protection of the environment, biodiversity
and ecosystems, especially in the interests of future generations, among the founding values of
our legal order.

A fundamental institutional mission that the Carabinieri carry out unceasingly, also through the
CUFA, which has inherited the 200 years of history of the State Forestry Corps.
Today, the Carabinieri hold the responsibility of protecting the Italian environmental and agri-
food biodiversity through their specialized Units distributed throughout the national territory.
A fundamental task achieved, in particular, thanks to the surveillance carried out over the agro-
forestal territory of the Country, the fight against crimes in the field of forest fires, environmental
damage, pollution, illegal waste management, illegal trade in protected species of flora and fauna,
animal abuse and the management of 150 natural reserves, areas as well as the surveillance of
Italian National Parks.
Una missione istituzionale fondamentale che i Carabinieri svolgono incessantemente, anche attraverso il
CUFA, che ha ereditato i 200 anni di storia del Corpo Forestale dello Stato.
Oggi l’Arma dei Carabinieri ha la responsabilità di tutelare il patrimonio ambientale e agroalimentare italiano
biodiversità alimentare attraverso le loro Unità specializzate distribuite su tutto il territorio nazionale.
Un compito fondamentale raggiunto, in particolare, grazie alla sorveglianza svolta sugli agro-
territorio forestale del Paese, la lotta ai reati in materia di incendi boschivi, ambientale
danni, inquinamento, gestione illecita dei rifiuti, commercio illegale di specie protette di flora e fauna,
abuso di animali e la gestione di 150 riserve naturali, aree nonché la sorveglianza di
Parchi Nazionali Italiani.
May is the month in which the World Biodiversity Day is celebrated. On this occasion, the
Carabinieri Corps wants to raise awareness to preserve the extraordinary wealth of Italian
biodiversity and the indispensable need to preserve its integrity.
As part of environmental diplomacy initiatives aimed at promoting Italy’s commitment to the
protection of the environment, the Carabinieri Command for Forestry, Environmental and Food
Protection (CUFA), with the coordination of the Permanent Representation of Italy to the United Nations, in partnership with the Italian Air Force, Leonardo Spa and Telespazio Spa, is organizing an exhibition on the activities carried out by the Carabinieri to be held in New York City from 8 to 18 May 2023 at the UN Headquarters, in preparation for World Biodiversity Day (22 May).

biodiversità e l’indispensabile necessità di preservarne l’integrità.
Nell’ambito delle iniziative di diplomazia ambientale volte a promuovere l’impegno dell’Italia per la
tutela dell’ambiente, il Comando Carabinieri Forestale, Ambientale e Alimentare
Protection (CUFA), con il coordinamento della Rappresentanza Permanente d’Italia presso le Nazioni Unite, in partnership con Aeronautica Militare, Leonardo Spa e Telespazio Spa, è
organizzando una mostra sull’attività svolta dai Carabinieri da tenersi a New York
Città dall’8 al 18 maggio 2023 presso la sede delle Nazioni Unite, in preparazione alla Giornata Mondiale della Biodiversità (22 maggio).
The exhibition, which will be inaugurated on May 8 at 18:00 by the CUFA Commander General
Antonio Marzo, will recount the centuries-old commitment of the Carabinieri in the protection
and conservation of Nature and will highlight in particular the institutional commitment to the
protection and conservation of biodiversity. Through an ideal journey in the extraordinary Italian
natural environment, it will also be possible to discover the most remote secrets and appreciate
the commitment and expertise put in place by the Carabinieri to defend the precious natural
treasures of our country.
La mostra, che sarà inaugurata l’8 maggio alle ore 18:00 dal Comandante Generale CUFA
Antonio Marzo, racconterà il secolare impegno dei Carabinieri nella protezione
e conservazione della natura e metterà in evidenza in particolare l’impegno istituzionale per la
tutela e conservazione della biodiversità. Attraverso un viaggio ideale nello straordinario italiano
ambiente naturale, sarà possibile scoprirne e apprezzarne anche i segreti più remoti
l’impegno e la competenza messi in campo dai Carabinieri per difendere il prezioso patrimonio naturale
tesori del nostro paese.
The idea behind the exibition is to lead the visitor into an ideal forest.
With the help of cutting-edge audiovisual technologies and highly interactive and emotionally
impactful computer media, it will be possible to discover the enormous richness of Italian
biodiversity that explodes in its many forms and colors, where every sound, every tree, every
living form is a fragment of the heritage we are tasked with preserving for future generations. A
conceptual forest that summarizes in itself the characters of all the facets and extraordinary
places that must be watched over and preserved.
L’idea alla base della mostra è quella di condurre il visitatore in un bosco ideale.
Con l’ausilio di tecnologie audiovisive all’avanguardia e altamente interattivo ed emozionale
supporti informatici di grande impatto, sarà possibile scoprire l’enorme ricchezza dell’italiano
biodiversità che esplode nelle sue molteplici forme e colori, dove ogni suono, ogni albero, ogni
la forma vivente è un frammento del patrimonio che abbiamo il compito di preservare per le generazioni future. UN
bosco concettuale che riassume in sé i caratteri di tutte le sfaccettature e straordinarie
luoghi che vanno custoditi e preservati.
Particular attention will also be given to the involvement and participation of visitors for whom,
thanks to special structures integrated in the installation, short thematic meetings with organized
groups or particular stakeholders can be organized. It is a forest of wonders, a dynamic museum
that puts us in touch with the hidden corners of Italy and shows us how the Carabinieri is
committed, through its dedicated articulations, distributed throughout the national territory, to
preserve this priceless heritage.
Particolare attenzione verrà data anche al coinvolgimento e alla partecipazione dei visitatori per i quali,
grazie ad apposite strutture integrate nell’installazione, brevi incontri tematici con organizzato
possono essere organizzati gruppi o parti interessate particolari. È una foresta delle meraviglie, un museo dinamico
che ci mette in contatto con gli angoli nascosti d’Italia e ci mostra com’è l’Arma dei Carabinieri
impegnata, attraverso le sue articolazioni dedicate, distribuite su tutto il territorio nazionale, a
preservare questo inestimabile patrimonio.
Italian biodiversity explodes in its many forms and colors; every sound, every tree, every living
form are fragments of the heritage that we must preserve. For such a noble mission, the
exhibition designed has the unique purpose of strengthening our common awareness towards the
need to spread knowledge, understanding and know-how in an effort to defend and preserve
nature.
La biodiversità italiana esplode nelle sue molteplici forme e colori; ogni suono, ogni albero, ogni vivente
forma sono frammenti del patrimonio che dobbiamo preservare. Per una missione così nobile, il
mostra progettata ha l’unico scopo di rafforzare la nostra comune consapevolezza nei confronti del
necessità di diffondere conoscenza, comprensione e know-how in uno sforzo di difesa e conservazione
natura.
